Richard Zakia W (EdD) writes that he has published Perception and Imaging (Focal Press), in which “perceptual and psychological principles highly relevant to photography and related disciplines are cited and their application to images displayed.”

1974

Ronald Fecso e-mails that he is chief statistician at the U.S. Government Accountability Office. Ron’s appointment began in December 2006. He serves as the GAO’s chief advisor and consultant on statistical aspects of its congressionally requested audits and evaluations of federal agencies and programs. He will take a key role in oversight of the federal statistical system. He was at the National Science Foundation from 1998 to 2006, where he served as chief statistician.

1983

Elinda Fishman Kiss (PhD) writes that she has received the University of Maryland’s Krowe Award as a faculty member. She was recognized for the professional relationships and commitment that she has developed with her students outside the classroom as well as excellence in the classroom.

1989

Bruce Kingma (PhD) has been appointed to the new position of associate provost for entrepreneurship and innovation at Syracuse University.

Ronald Gordon (PhD) has joined the firm of Fish & Richardson as a technology specialist in its Boston office.

2001

Mara Amster (PhD), an assistant professor of English at Randolph College, writes that she has published the two-volume work Texts on Prostitution, 1592–1633 and Texts on Prostitution, 1635–1700, both published by Ashgate. The volumes are part of a facsimile series that reproduces literature for, by, and about early modern women. Mara is also a visiting research associate at the Brandeis University Women’s Studies Research Center.

2002

Amy Barmore S (MBA) writes that she married Timothy Pasley on September 22, 2006, and she was promoted to store manager at Wegmans Food Markets in January. . . . Nicole Huben W (MS) (see undergraduate ’01).

2003

Jacalyn Eddy W (PhD) is the author of Creating an Empire in Children’s Book Publishing, a comprehensive account of the founders of the Horn Book. Jacalyn is a lecturer in humanities at SUNY Geneseo.

Melissa Bernstein Ser (PhD) and her husband, Sam, send a photo to announce the birth of Ariel Moshe on October 8, 2006, in Jerusalem.

2006

Daryl DuLong S (MBA) (see undergraduate ’03). . . . John Sutton (PhD) writes that his second book, Death and Violence in Old and Middle English Literature, has been published by the Edwin Mellen Press. The book explores how medieval English authors used the spectacle of a character’s death—the tableau of last words and deeds on the battlefield—to express their views about the martial culture of their aristocratic countrymen.
