At Rochester:
- Two-sport athlete-baseball and football
- Ranked among the nation's earned-run-average leaders
- Played in the secondary with football as a junior, and as the quarterback senior year
- Graduated in 1966 with a B.S. in Optics
- Earned his MAS in Optics in 1967
Post-Graduate:
- Worked for Perkin Elmer Corporation and Tropel, Inc. before forming Burleigh Instruments, a privately-held company, in 1972
- Retired President and CEO of Tansmation, Inc., a public company
- In 1993, he received the University's Distinguished Alumni Award from the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences
- Member of the Trustees' Council in the early 1990s
- Member of the SEAS Visiting Committee
