The second component of Rochester Ready is a series of live webinars, video recordings, and online modules designed to introduce you to University academics and student life ahead of your arrival to campus. The required items need to completed by Friday, August 21, 2026 at the latest.

Required webinars and videos

Select an item below to register for the live webinar or watch the video. Recordings of the live webinar will be available 2-3 business days after the event date. You are required to attend these webinars (or view the recordings) and watch this video by Friday, August 21.

Due June 22: Writing self-placement survey

The writing self-placement survey is designed to help you determine what writing course is the best option for you to fulfill your primary writing requirement. While the survey is meant to help you make an informed decision, the results are only a suggestion. Ultimately, you can choose which writing course best suits your needs and interests.

Instructions

  1. Log into your Blackboard account with your Active Directory credentials.
  2. Navigate to the organization titled Rochester Ready: Fall 2026 in the title under My Organizations.
  3. Select Writing Self-Placement Survey.
  4. Read through the survey instructions.
  5. Click Section I: Writing History and Experience.
  6. Read the instructions and click Begin to start the survey.

Due August 21: Immigration and arrival information (international students only)

All incoming international students are required to complete the International Services Office's online training module on preparing for studies and life in the U.S. and Rochester.

This module will launch in early June.

Due August 21: Academic honesty tutorial

The University of Rochester is committed to academic excellence, which depends on academic honesty and integrity. This tutorial will help learn the principles and practical applications of the University's policy and process.

The tutorial opens on Friday, July 24, following the required academic honesty webinar on Thursday, July 23. You should only complete this tutorial after you have attended the webinar or watched the recording.

Instructions

  1. Log into your Blackboard account with your Active Directory credentials.
  2. Navigate to the organization titled Rochester Ready: Fall 2026 in the title under My Organizations.
  3. Select Academic Honesty Tutorial in the main menu to begin the module.
