We’re not changing who we are. We’re simply clarifying our story and giving the University brand the attention it deserves in a modern, accessible way. Our refreshed brand provides a more cohesive and compelling representation of the rigorous education, groundbreaking research, lifesaving healthcare, world-class music, and profound global impact that have been our cornerstones for nearly two centuries.
Research shows that our audiences want URochester to stand out—to tell our story boldly, authentically, and in a way that captures the imagination of our community, and the world. We clarified our brand strategy, refreshed our brand promise – Ever wonder. Ever better.––and enhanced our visual identity to make it more accessible, including our logos, colors, typography, and photography. We even gave our mascot Rocky a glow-up.
This is more than meets the eye. It’s a symbol of our commitment to growth, discovery, academic excellence, and the bright future of all who wonder how to make the world ever better.

Discovery that moves our brand forward.
As an R1 institution with an academic medical center, 3,000 researchers, the largest laser at any University anywhere, a high-profile business school, Nobel Prize, Pulitzer Prize, and Grammy Award-winning alumni, along with countless brilliant faculty members, we’re all about data, insights, and creativity. In fact, those provided the roadmap for our brand evolution.
Much of this initiative, which took two years to complete, was spent doing research, analysis, and validation testing. Everything we created was based on authentic feedback and refashioned along the way when it needed to be.
To the hundreds of students, patients, faculty, staff, providers, friends of the University, thousands of alumni—and to all those who didn’t know much about us but spent the time to give us their ideas—thank you for being an integral part of this.
