Help shape the future of Rochester Core

Rochester Core is always evolving, and your input helps us build a better, more flexible WordPress experience for the University.

What’s next for Rochester Core?

We’re continuously improving Rochester Core to make it more flexible, user-friendly, and effective for University websites. Below are some of the upcoming enhancements we’re working on—designed to improve navigation, content management, and site-wide consistency.

These features are part of our current roadmap but are subject to change based on University priorities and evolving needs.

Primary navigation

We’re redesigning the primary menu to provide a more expansive layout for better usability and moving the search button into the site wrapper for a more intuitive experience.

Event feed

The event feed is getting a visual update to improve readability and flexibility. These refinements will enhance how events are displayed while maintaining a consistent and accessible design.

Site wide alerts

A new alerts component will allow site admins to post critical updates or announcements on every site page, ensuring visitors never miss important messages.

Interstitial

We’re updating the interstitial component to improve its code base and provide admins with customization options for displaying important content before users reach a page.

Syndicated content

We’re developing a way to create content in one location and display it across multiple pages—so updates happen in one place but reflect everywhere it’s syndicated, reducing duplication and streamlining content management.

Formatting and headings

We’re making updates to heading styles and formatting options to create more consistency and ensure content remains clear, accessible, and visually cohesive across all sites.
