Grading

You must earn a grade of C or better to transfer credit back to Rochester. You can’t take a course just to pass or fail it unless a “Pass” grade has been proven to be equal to “C” or better on our Rochester grading scale.

GPA impact

  • Grades for courses graded by University of Rochester faculty appear on the transcript and are calculated into your GPA.
  • Grades earned on Rochester programs do not appear on your University of Rochester transcript and do not count in your GPA.
  • Grades earned on Non-Rochester programs do not appear on your University of Rochester transcript and do not count in your GPA.

Course load

You must complete a full course load, the equivalent of 16 Rochester credits, per semester. You can’t take fewer courses, or underload, during study abroad. Any course taken abroad must be comparable in content to what is offered at the University of Rochester. Credits may be transferred for elective, major, minor, and cluster credit.
