Courses at Rochester

The University of Rochester offers 70+ majors, 90+ minors, and countless clusters. These are offered through the different academic departments and programs. And, the unique Rochester Curriculum invites students to study what they love with focus and flexibility.

You can find all our courses on the course description and schedule page by selecting Arts, Sciences & Engineering as the school. This site allows you to search by semester and subject.

Credits and registration

During the application process, students will be informed about course registration, which will be completed before arrival. After arrival, students will have four weeks to modify their schedules.

  • Language of Instruction: English
  • Credit Load: Typically 16 credits (usually 4 courses)
  • Minimum credit load: 14 credits
  • Maximum credit load: 19 credits
  • Restrictions:
    • School of Medicine and Dentistry courses and most courses at the Simon Business School are not available.
    • Enrollment in Eastman School of Music courses, graduate courses, and independent studies is possible with faculty approval.
