Learning During Times of Disruption
Planning and Preparing for Disruption
There are a number of strategies that instructors can use to plan for potential classroom disruption.
- Start by reviewing University guidance on how to Prepare to Learn, Work or Teach Remotely
- Review any communications from your instructors about changes or updates to your course
- Recognize the need to be flexible and patient with your instructor during times of disruption
- If possible, test your system for compatibility with the technologies being used prior to your first class session. For example, test your system for access to Zoom
- Find a quiet space that is free of distraction for any live online class sessions
- Use the course code in the subject of your message to instructors (Blackboard Email will do this automatically)
- Check to see if there is a discussion forum in your class for communication and subscribe to it
- Practice with the tools before you need to use them
