PRESIDENTIAL ROUNDS: Former President Bill Clinton
was in the hands of Rochester-trained surgeon Craig Smith ’82M (Res)
last fall when he underwent successful heart bypass surgery. Smith, chief
of the division of cardiothoracic surgery at the Columbia–Presbyterian
Center of New York–Presbyterian Hosptial, was the lead surgeon for
the four-hour operation. “There are always a few anxious moments during
heart surgery,” Smith told reporters at a press conference (above)
after the procedure. “There was nothing in this case that was outside
the realm of routine.” |
