Galway Kinnell (MA) gave a reading of his poetry
at the Cúirt Literary Festival in Galway, Ireland, last April.
1951
Michael Furey (MS) is professor emeritus of mechanical
engineering at Virginia Tech’s College of Engineering. He has been a member
of Virginia Tech’s faculty for 35 years.
1967
Douglas Astolfi (MA) was named president of Saint
Martin’s College in Lacey, Wash. Previously, he was vice president for
academic affairs at Saint Leo University in Saint Leo, Fla.
1971
Paula Treichler (PhD) gave a talk, “Paradoxes
of Visibility: Women’s Health in a ‘Post-Reproductive Era,’”
at Washington University in St. Louis last April. Paula is a professor of social
medicine, cultural studies, and feminist theory at the University of Illinois.
1972
Morris Fiorina (PhD), a professor of political
science at Stanford University and author of Culture War? The Myth of a
Polarized America, led a discussion last March on “Polarization,
Tolerance, and the State of American Public Opinion” at Washington University
in St. Louis.
1975
Arnie Greenland (PhD) writes, “I was named
an IBM Distinguished Engineer. I work within the IBM global services organization,
focusing on providing public-sector clients with management consulting services.”

Clarivoyante, a patent-licensing company that develops display technology.

Teslim Raji (PhD) is acting vice chancellor of
the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology in Ogbomoso, Nigeria.
1978
The paintings of Rosalyn Engelman (MS) were exhibited
at the Queensborough Community College Art Gallery in New York City. Rosalyn

(PhD) was appointed to the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council
in Ottawa, Ontario, last March. Gregory is vice president of research at the

Michael Steinberg (MA) is the author of The
Fiction of a Thinkable World: Body, Meaning, and the Culture of Capitalism.
Michael writes, “It outlines why our self-identification with the conscious
thinking subject is unfounded . . . and explores the synergy between it and
the capitalist order. All in 200 pages, too.”
1981
Nat Strout (PhD) received the Christian A. Johnson
Professorship for Excellence in Teaching, a three-year endowed chair, at Hamilton
College last May. Nat, an associate professor of English, has been a member
of the Hamilton faculty for 24 years.
1983
Bill Hartman S (MBA) is president of MesoSystems
Technology in Albuquerque, N.M. . . . Bill Thummel
S (MBA) was appointed COO for the Americas region at real estate services and
money management firm Jones Lang LaSalle.
1985
Mary Hao Ho (MA), president of the China Millennium
Council, was elected to Torvec, Inc.’s board of directors. In addition,
last May, Mary presented Jeffrey Lehmann, then president of Cornell University,
with the council’s award honoring Cornell for its commitment to diversity
in education. . . . Jon Van Duyne S (MBA) is CEO
of CAS Americas, a sales and marketing provider for consumer products companies.

Randy Bangs S (MBA) was elected to the Racine,
Wis., school board last spring. Randy is president of Market Equity, a recruiting
service for consumer marketing companies. . . . David
Dyer S (MBA) is vice president of sales for Cyber-Ark Software.

Brad Davis S (MBA) is a managing director at RBS
Greenwich Capital in Connecticut.
1991
Maria Windringer Fregosi S (MBA) has been appointed
to ABN AMRO Mortgage Group’s executive committee. She is also in charge
of the company’s capital markets division. . . . Gabriela
Sanchis (PhD), professor of mathematics at Elizabethtown (Pa.) College,
received a grant from the National Science Foundation to better prepare future
math teachers by integrating the history of mathematics into their college courses.
Gabriela will prepare a textbook supplement and training workshops on the subject.

of Heineken USA.

Rene Jones S (MBA) has been appointed CFO of M&T
Bank Corp. Previously, he was senior vice president and manager of the company’s

Lisa Logan (PhD) is director of women’s
studies programs and associate professor of English at the University of Central
Florida in Orlando.

Lisa Chavez (MA), associate professor of creative
writing at the University of New Mexico at Albuquerque and nonfiction editor
for the Blue Mesa Review, gave a reading of her poetry at Austin Peay
State University in Clarksville, Tenn., last March. . . . Lauren
Doyle W (MS) and her husband, John, are cochairs of the Brighton (N.Y.)
Rotary Club’s fundraising project to renovate a historic farmhouse. Lauren
is a counselor with a private practice, a member of the Monroe County Airport
Authority Board, and executive director of Matt Talbot Ministries.

Shelly Gable (PhD) and Chetan Nayak were married
on March 21 in Santa Monica, Calif. Shelly is an assistant professor of psychology,
and Chetan is a physics professor at the University of California at Los Angeles.

Patricia Calkins S (MBA) is vice president of
environment, health, and safety at Xerox Corp. in Webster, N.Y. . . . Mark
Sweeney W (MS) and Samantha Franks were married on March 11 in Washington,
D.C. Mark is a doctoral candidate at George Washington University, and Samantha
is a preschool teacher.
