EXTREME ART: A Rochester-exclusive showing of
contemporary artists who are pushing the boundaries of creative expression
was one of last spring’s highlights at the Memorial Art Gallery.
The exhibition Extreme Materials featured the work of nearly
30 artists, including a 1960 Cadillac de Ville by California artist Larry
Fuente (above). Marie Via, the gallery’s director of exhibitions,
researched the idea for the exhibition for years, scouring the art world
for artists who transform otherwise mundane and overlooked materials into
surprising and intriguing objects of art. (Photo: Courtesy Harrod Blank/ArtCarAgency.com)
