WOMEN’S BASKETBALLYellowjackets Win Record Sixth Straight Wendy’s Title
(Photo: Athletics and Recreation)SIX-PEAT: Hoping to return to the Final Four for the second straight year, the Yellowjacket women’s basketball team is off to a milestone season. In December, the team—led by Laney Ming ’14 and Melissa Alwardt ’11—won a record sixth straight Wendy’s College Classic tournament. Ming, who hit five of six from the floor in the championship game, was named tournament MVP. Alwardt and Danielle McNabb ’14 were named to the all-tournament first team. The Yellowjackets, who advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four in 2010, began the season ranked fifth nationally in two polls. Under coach Jim Scheible, the team was 8–1 at the winter break.
