Recommended Disability Syllabus Statement
Instructors should include a statement in your course syllabus inviting any students with disabilities to come and see you about their required accommodations. The following statements can be personalized or adapted to your specific requirements:
"This classroom respects and welcomes students of all backgrounds and abilities, and I encourage you to talk with me about any concern or situation that affects your ability to complete your academic work successfully. Undergraduates requiring classroom accommodations should contact the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, 1-154 Dewey Hall, (585) 275-9049. Information about the accommodation process can be found at: www.rochester.edu/college/cetl/undergraduate/disability"
"Your success in this class is important to me, and it is the policy and practice of the University of Rochester to create inclusive learning environments consistent with federal and state law. If you have a documented disability (or need to have a disability documented), and need an accommodation, please contact me privately as soon as possible, so that we can discuss with the access coordinators at the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) how to meet your specific needs and the requirements of the course. Resources and the coordination of reasonable accommodations are arranged through a collaborative process among you, your instructor(s) and CETL. Thus, if you have a disability, please contact me and/or visit the CETL website at www.rochester.edu/college/cetl/undergraduate/disability" [adapted from the University Of Arkansas]
