After the Independence Day (July 4) holiday, your academic advisor(s) will reach out to you directly at your University of Rochester email address to begin discussing your academic plans and fall semester course options.
Please avoid contacting your advisor(s) prior to this communication, as the advising team continues to support current University of Rochester students in the spring and early summer.
As an incoming transfer student, you'll have the opportunity to register for your classes as soon as you meet with your academic advisor to discuss your first-semester courses.
Beginning Monday, July 7, your advisor will reach out to your official University of Rochester email address to set up a time to connect to review your academic goals, transfer credits, and fall courses.
Once your advisor has approved your desired Fall 2025 courses, they will lift the Advisor Hold in UR Student, the University's student information system, allowing you to log in and register for classes.
The College allows you to use Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) Program examination scores for placement in more advanced courses in a subject area.
Your academic advisor(s) will email you directly at your University of Rochester email address to begin your advising discussion. Once you have connected with your academic advisor(s) to discuss your academic goals, first semester course options, course placement, and transfer credit, you can begin taking placement examinations and seeking approvals for coursework that you would like to be transferred to the University.
This placement exam is required for all incoming students and will help you discern which writing course best suits your experience.

Brand new to the University this year, UR Essentials is a program in partnership with Barnes & Noble that ensures you receive all required textbooks and course materials before your first day of classes.
Instead of buying your textbooks separately, the cost for all required materials will now be covered through your tuition payment. Physical books will be bundled for easy pick-up and digital materials will be available through Blackboard.
After you register for classes in UR Student, Barnes & Noble will email your University email address to confirm that your materials will be available for pick-up at the University bookstore in College Town.
Please note: If the Barnes & Noble email gives you the option to have the materials shipped directly to you at home, please make sure to select in-store pick-up instead, as the materials will likely be delivered after you've already left home for campus.

Submit your required health forms and complete the online health insurance process.
