River Campus Libraries has extended the loan period from 28 days to five months to allow you plenty of time to work with the books you need for papers and research.
If you’re new to Eastman this fall, orientation information is at www.esm.rochester.edu/studentlife/orientation. Orientation Week is required for all incoming undergraduate and graduate students. The orientation schedule contains programs designed to introduce students to the Eastman community. For more information, contact the Office of Student Life at (585) 274-1106.
Eastman students should check out the latest edition of Clef Notes for “everything Eastman” before coming back to campus. It contains information on auditions and placement, parking, student employment, and whom to go to with your questions. You can find Clef Notes at www.esm.rochester.edu/studentlife/orientation.
Meal plan changes: In response to student feedback, Dining Services has eliminated clubs plans and created unlimited meal plans. Unlimited meal plan members can enter Danforth, Douglass and Eastman Dining Centers as often as they like. Whether you are in the mood for a quick snack or a full meal, just swipe your card and you are in. For students on Declining Balance plans, you can enter Douglass, Danforth, or Eastman Dining Center for a door rate of $4.95 for breakfast, $6.50 for brunch or lunch and $7.50 for dinner. Declining can also be used at The Commons, Pura Vida, Connections, The Hillside Market, The Meliora, Southside, Starbucks, The Orchestra Pit, The Cave, and for catering.
Key dates: Your fall meal plan begins with the day that freshmen move into the residence halls (Aug. 24) and ends Thursday, Dec. 22. The meal plan change period is Sept. 6 through 16.

Did you know you can preorder your textbooks? Go to urochester.bncollege.com and click on the textbook link. You can choose between renting your textbooks or buying them used, new, or digital. The books will be packed up and ready for you to pick up when you get back to campus.

With input from physics students, space in the Physics, Optics, and Astronomy (POA) Library has been renovated. There will be 25 new seats around study tables, lockers for storage, and four new computer workstations.
In addition, 12 new carrels, new tables, and more outlets have been added to the reference area on the first floor of Rush Rhees Library.
