G. Robert Witmer, Sr. '26, a retired justice of the Supreme Court, Appellate Division, last year celebrated his 60th wedding anniversary with his wife, Marian, at the University Club in Rochester. The couple has three sons who are Rochester graduates: University Trustee G. Robert Witmer, Jr. '59, a partner in the Rochester law firm of Nixon, Hargrave, Devans & Doyle, veterinarian John R. Witmer '60, and physician Thomas W. Witmer '65 [husband of Sandra Gigliotti Witmer '71N, '75N (MS)].

The third generation of Witmers includes three alumni: John Robert Witmer '85 and Catherine Witmer Workman '86 are the children of John Witmer, and Heidi Witmer '94 is the daughter of G. Robert Witmer, Jr. That's nine Rochester graduates in the immediate family--only to date, of course: G. Robert Witmer III has just finished his first year at the medical school and Jonathan Witmer, the son of Thomas Witmer, is now a member of the Class of 2001.
