Roger Lamb (PhD) is the editor of Love Analyzed, a collection of previously unpublished articles by contemporary analytic philosophers on the phenomena of erotic and romantic love. Lamb is in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Queensland in Australia.

Joe Amato (PhD) is the author of Golf Beats Us All (And So We Love It), recently published by Johnson Books. The book is described as a "blend of nostalgia and contemporary perspectives on the game.". . . Robert Skoglund (MA) brings us up to date on his show The Humble Farmer: "I'm having fun making six TV commercials every week for a little cable station that runs between Camden and Friendship. Very soon I'm going to boil a live clam on camera just to see if we can get out some mollusk-rights people." He has a Web site at www.midcoast.com/~humblfmr.

Jane Guyer (PhD) presented the 1997 Lewis Henry Morgan Lecture at the University in March. Guyer's lecture was titled "Thresholds and Conversions: Explorations of Africa's Articulated Economics." Guyer is professor of anthropology and director of the African studies program at Northwestern University. . . . Robert Milligan (PhD), chair of the physics department at Muhlenberg College, received the school's Christian R. and Mary F. Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished Teaching. A Muhlenberg graduate, Milligan joined the college in 1971.

Michele Boyer
(Mas) received the Caleb Mills Distinguished Teaching Award from Indiana State University at commencement ceremonies in May. Boyer is professor of counseling psychology and director of training at the university. . . . Janet Zandy (MA), associate professor of language and literature at Rochester Institute of Technology, has been named general editor of Women's Studies Quarterly, published by The Feminist Press.

Carolyn Portanova W (Mas), president and chief executive officer of Catholic Family Center in Rochester, was honored in May by the Inter-Faith Action Network with the Inter-Act Award for bettering communities.

At the annual convention of the American Psychological Association this summer, Leonard Jason (PhD) received the 1997 Distinguished Contributions to Theory and Research Award of the Society for Community Research and Action. Jason, who is professor of psychology at DePaul University, recently received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to conduct an epidemiological study of chronic fatigue syndrome. He is also co-author of Remote Control: A Sensible Approach to Kids, TV, and the New Electronic Media, recently published by Professional Resource Press, and author of Community Building: Values for a Sustainable Future, published by Greenwood Publishing Group this year.

Edward K. Welch II (MS) in January joined Witco Corporation as assistant general counsel and head of the Intellectual Property Law Group. Witco Corporation is a global specialty chemical company headquartered in Greenwich, Conn.

Brian C. Mitchell (PhD) received an honorary doctorate in humane letters from Elizabethtown College in May. He was cited as "a leader in the areas where public interest and private education intersect in the commonwealth of Pennsylvania." He is president of the Council of Independent Colleges and Universities; founder of the Pennsylvania Independent College and University Research Center; and president of the Foundation for Independent Colleges and the Association for Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania. He is also chair of the National Association of State College and University Executives in Washington, D.C.

Darrell Dobbs (PhD) is professor of political science at Marquette University. . . . Richard Valpey (PhD) was appointed technical director of Ace Paint Division of Ace Hardware Corporation in October 1996. Valpey had been project leader for research and development at Sherwin-Williams Company. He lives in Frankfort, Ill., with his wife, Sandra, and their three children.

Steven Falter S (MBA) in December 1996 was named manager, commercial markets and systems and vice president of the commercial and government systems business unit at Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester.

Douglas Richards (PhD) was promoted to full professor of English at Keuka College in Keuka Park, N.Y.

Gabriela Sanchis (PhD), assistant professor of mathematics at Elizabethtown College, has been granted tenure and recommended for promotion to associate professor. . . . Chris Shannon S (MBA) in March was named chief financial officer of US WATS, Inc., a long-distance carrier. Shannon had been director of business development for Teleglobe International.

In March, Patrick King S (MBA) was appointed vice president, worldwide sales and marketing, for Micron Communications, Inc. . . . Darius Sankey (PhD) writes, "I am living in Portland, working at Portland Software, a small Internet software company. I am the futurist or essentially director of future technologies and the chief strategist. I live also in Los Angeles, so I am getting a lot of sun."

He teaches courses in anatomy, ecology, and earth sciences to non-majors. . . . Lori Burlingame (PhD) is assistant professor of language and literature in the Department of English at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti. . . .

Mike Noel (PhD) was one of five finalists for the Thesis of the Year in Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics in the United States. The finalists gave presentations at the April meeting of the American Physical Society's Division of Atomic, Molecular, and Optical Physics. Noel is a postdoctoral fellow in physics at the University of Virginia. . . . John Ofori (PhD) in December joined the General Electric Research and Development Center in Schenectady, N.Y., as a chemical engineer.
