Paul S. Rohwer M (MS), '67M (PhD) was program manager of FY 1995 Energy Systems Programs Funded by the Assistant Secretary for Environment, Safety, and Health, which won an Award for Excellence in the annual reports category of the Society for Technical Communications 1996 competition. Rohwer works at the Department of Energy's Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee.
Barry J. Hoffer M (MD), '68M (Res) has been named scientific director of the National Institute on Drug Abuse's Division of Intramural Research. Hoffer had been professor of pharmacology and psychiatry at the University of Colorado Medical School.
Harold Kanthor M (MD) has received a special achievement award from the American Academy of Pediatrics for his continuing efforts on behalf of children with disabilities.
Edward D. Miller Jr. M (MD) in January was named to the newly created joint post of chief executive officer of Johns Hopkins Medicine and dean of The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Miller also serves as vice president for medicine at the university. He had been interim dean since March 1996. Miller and his wife, Lynne, have four children and live in Baltimore County, Maryland.
Kenneth I. Darmer, Jr. M (Mas) is director of regulatory affairs for the Shell Oil Company in Houston, Tex.
Wendy Schlessel Harpham M (MD) reports that she continues to write and speak about cancer survivorship. Her book, When a Parent Has Cancer, and her children's book, Becky and the Worry Cup, were published by Harper Collins in February 1997. A revised and updated edition of her first book, Diagnosis: Cancer, will be released by Norton in November 1997. Harpham also contributed a special chapter on late effects in Lippincott's Principles and Practice of Supportive Oncology, to be released in December 1997. . . . Robert J. Panzer M (Res), associate professor of medicine at the University, has been appointed medical director of StrongCare, a newly formed managed care plan in Rochester.
Donald R. Callihan M (PhD), '84M (Flw) is technology manager for core microbiology research and development at Becton Dickinson Microbiology Systems in Hunt Valley, Md.

Mercy Health System of Cincinnati has appointed David Nash M (MD) to its board of trustees. Nash is director of the Office of Health Policy and Clinical Outcomes at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and associate professor of medicine at Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.
