Sharon L. Fassett was elected as Region 5 Director of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) for the 1997­98 fiscal year. Region 5 includes the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. Fassett lives in Prineville, Ore., with her daughter Shelley and serves as a nurse anesthetist at Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Prineville. She holds faculty appointments at the University of Pittsburgh and Old Dominion University.

Maureen Mary Corcoran reports, "We have created a multicultural family by adopting our 3-year-old daughter, Alexandra, from China and our 1-year-old son, Nick, from Russia."

Pamela Thompson (Mas) was elected chair of the board of trustees at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where she has served as a nurse-executive since 1986. She is vice president of the Children's Hospital at Dartmouth as well as Women's Health and Psychiatric Services.

Kim Pietrowski Kirkwood writes, "My husband, Jim, and I announce the birth of our daughter, Anna Helene, on Dec. 30, 1996. She joins her big brothers--Justin (then 5 1/2 years old), and Jeffrey (then 2 years old). I really love my job as a pediatric nurse practitioner, but due to child care problems, I plan on resigning at the end of the year to stay home for a while with my children. Heidi Schenk Martinez '86RC is Anna's godmother. 'Aunt Heidi' has a son, Samuel Eric, born in July 1996. Congratulations also to Lisa Fiutem and Tom Winchell '86RC, who had their third son, Dylan Anthony, in May 1997."

Kirsten A. Hickerson reports, "My husband, Joseph Beinstein, and I are thrilled to announce the birth of our son, James Joseph, on Oct. 3, 1997. He weighed in at 8 lbs. 5 ozs. We live three miles from Center City, Penn., and we love visitors."

Dawn Bidell '93 (Mas), (PMC) married Ronald Rugelis on Sept. 27, 1997, at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Greece, N.Y. The reception was held at the Avon Inn, Livingston County, and the couple honeymooned in Florida. Bidell is a nurse practitioner at the Highland Hospital Family Medicine Center.
