Richard Artuso is a senior consultant for The Hunter Group, where his current assignment has him working on the HRIS project at the University. . . . Lauralee Klindt Haefner is a marketing interactive designer at Ziff-Davis Journals, a division of Ziff-Davis Education. . . . Amy Goldblatt Holtzer and her husband, Mark, just celebrated the first birthday of Noah Daniel. She writes: "Noah is adored by big sisters, Sarah, 9, and Talya, 8, and big brother Jacob, 6. I teach sixth grade at Solomon Schechter Day School in White Plains, N.Y., where my children attend. Life is hectic, but extremely full and happy!" . . . Jim Lodestro is vice president for sales at Responsys.com, a Web application service provider located in Palo Alto, Calif. . . . Mary Thomas Sweeney '85W (Mas) (see '85 graduate). . . . Therese Tutino e-mails that she and her husband, Dan, have returned to New York after living in the Seattle area for 17 years. Dan is working at Cornell Law School as a Web developer in the IT department. Therese reports: "We are looking forward to enjoying all four seasons here in New York state!"

Doug Abeles e-mails that he has left the writing staff of ABC-TV's Politically Incorrect and has joined the writing staff of The Martin Short Show, which premiered September 13. He adds: "Everybody please watch so I can have some job security." . . . Marc Albrecht reports that he is in his 12th year of working in public transportation in New York City. He has been in his current position, assistant director for grant management for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, since January. . . . Robert Annechiarico is the chief information officer at BizNexus, an Internet technology firm serving businesses in North Carolina and the Southeast. In addition, he has been appointed to a third term on the North Carolina Governor's Board of Science and Technology. . . . Joel Aronstein writes: "I am living in Scandinavia. My wife, MajBritt, and I have two children, Sarah, 6, and Matthew, 3." . . . Kai-Lit Phua is currently teaching public health at the International Medical University in suburban Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He writes that he would like to hear from old Rochester friends at phuakl@hotmail.com. . . . William Spohn '86 (Mas) e-mails that he has joined Testo, Inc., a global test instrument manufacturer, as North American HVAC division manager. Susan Albrecht Burke '83W (Mas) e-mails that she and her husband, David Burke, "are still being kept busy by sons, Peter, 4, and Tommy, 1." Susan and David continue to work at the University of Michigan. He is an associate professor of human genetics and she is the director of the women in engineering office at the College of Engineering. Susan adds: "It has been a long time and we would love to hear from our friends with whom we've been out of touch. Come see us in Ann Arbor!". . . Nicola LaMonica writes that he and Cheryl Lyght are living in Rome. Cheryl is a marketing analyst with Telecom Italia and Nicola heads the gene therapy research program at I.R.B.M., a subsidiary of Merck Sharpe & Dohme. . . . Andrew Smith reports that he is starting up his own practice in general surgery in Easton, Pa., and Phillipsburg, N.J. He is married to Elizabeth Dellers '85M (MD), and the couple has three children, ages 7, 5, and 2. . . . Cdr. Elizabeth Pedro Taggart writes that she ran into classmate Cdr. Timothy Riley in Washington, D.C., this summer where the two of them were completing the Army Reserve component national security course. She adds: "It was great to run into Tim again after all these years. We had a chance to meet each other's families and reminisce about our NROTC days at Rochester." The accompanying photo shows Elizabeth and Tim flanking Rear Admiral John B. Totushek, commander of the Naval Reserve Force. Elizabeth and her husband, Christopher Taggart, live in Greensboro, N.C., with their two children, Ross, 9, and Amy, 6. Elizabeth is working as the director of PC services for VF Corp. Chris is working at General Dynamics and is in his second year of study toward his Ph.D. in network engineering at North Carolina State.

Ellen Reich Cortez and her husband, Alan, have a new daughter, Shira Rachel, born on August 18. The family also includes Jamie, 6, and Jonah, 2. Ellen reports that she is a practicing allergist in Orange County, Calif. . . . Laryssa Sharvan Densmore married Russell Densmore on June 26 in Denver (see Alumni Gazette, Rocketeer). . . . Ross Elliot e-mails an update: "I received a master's in marine geology in 1987 (and went to cool places like Antarctica and China to find mud), got married, have two little daughters, and am now working as a bureaucrat at the EPA in Washington, D.C., writing regulations and saving the earth. It is time for another St. Croix reunion." . . . Steve Fan has been named chief technology officer for eBricks. com, an online marketplace for the construction industry. . . . Beth Solomon German and her husband, David, announce the birth of their second child, Molly Isabelle, who will be 1 year old in December. Molly joins sister Amanda, 6. Beth adds, "Having kids five years apart is worth the wait!" . . . Robin Chase Murtha writes that she is going back to school. "In September I start a three-year program at Yale School of Nursing and will earn my M.S.N. degree. I am in the pediatric nurse practitioner program specializing in caring for children with chronic illness."

John Biondolillo is president of Bolton Valley Resort and lives in Vermont with his wife, Marcia, and children Samuel, 3, and Victoria, 1. . . . Stefan Chevalier writes that he and his wife, Deborah, have a new addition to their family. Katarina Elizabeth was born on June 28. She joins older brother, Christian. Stefan became board certified in plastic surgery in September and also was promoted to the rank of major in the Air Force Reserve. . . . Richard Crummins has been associate university counsel at Rochester since December 1998. He and his wife, Karen Clever Crummins '85, have two children, Elizabeth, 4, and Ben, 1. . . . George Liu reports: "So many changes--I went to medical school, finished surgical residency in Norfolk, lived in England working for the National Health Service, traveled around Europe, met my wife, Susan, in the Swiss Alps (she is from New Zealand), and now find myself in solo practice in rural Kentucky working on this weekend's worship service. I miss my friends."

OCTOBER 12-15, 2000

John Cigliano was promoted to associate professor of marine biology and environmental science at Bradford College in Massachusetts. He also was an instructor for the Children's Environmental Trust Foundation, an organization that educates students about the ecology and conservation of tropical rain forests and the people who inhabit them. On the experience, Cigliano writes: "I spent a week with 13- and 14-year-olds from San Diego in the Peruvian Amazon discussing rain forest ecology and conservation while hiking through the forest and the canopy. That's right, we hiked through the canopy. We were at the Amazon Center for Environmental Education and Research, which has a 0.25-mile walkway through the rain forest canopy. It was an incredible experience and I hope to do it on a regular basis." . . . Karen Clever Crummins '85 (see '84). . . .Emily Gilman married Michael Denning on November 21, 1998, at First Baptist Church of Rochester. . . . Norman Guadagno was named vice president of marketing at Primus, a Web-based software company in Seattle. . . . Elaine Chryssochoos Juran writes that three classmate/mothers gave birth in 1998 and 1999: "Twins were born to Sasha Belind Frey, a second son was born to Lisa Post, and I had my second daughter.". . . Gregory Luther '92 (PhD) e-mails that he is now working for Corning, Inc.

Doug Besterman won the 1999 Tony Award for Best Orchestrations for his work on the musical Fosse. . . . Kirsten Lindwood Johnson, founder of the workers' compensation audit and recover company Accu-Comp, married John Willard Adams II in October. . . . Marsha Kessler has taken a new position at Polaroid Corp. as the manager of the Center of Excellence for Project Management. She also started her own photography business specializing in children's portraits and hand-colored black-and-white images. She and her husband, David Golden, live in Newton, Mass., with their two daughters, Evelyn, 5, and Irene, 2. She adds: "Life is busy but we are enjoying every minute." . . . Patrick Laverty reports that he and his wife, Mary Ann, have a new daughter. Meredith Caitlin was born on July 30. She joins big sister Margaret, 4. . . . Elizabeth Reinhardt Noe and her husband, Christopher Noe '96S (PhD), announce the birth of their son, Jonathan Adam, born on August 4. . . . Lisa Hardy Norwood '95W (MS) e-mails: "After taking eight months off of work in 1998 to have our third child, Julia Rosemary, born July 5, 1998, I returned part time to the University's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences as assistant dean for undergraduate engineering studies. I am always looking for ways to connect engineering undergraduates with engineering alumni, so please contact me if you are willing to help out in any capacity." Lee joined Prebon Yamane in August where he is senior vice president in charge of product development and strategic planning. The Taylors live in Westfield, N.J., where they have been since 1994. Margot Feintuch graduated in June from the Career Training Program in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry & Mental Health Sciences in Topeka, Kans. She plans to enter a women's studies fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago. . . . Allen Hall e-mails: "On June 29, my second son, Ryan Jay, was born. I am living with my wife, Dorri, and other son, Joseph, in Endwell, N.Y. I am currently a partner in the Binghamton, N.Y., law firm of Hinman, Howard & Kattell, LLP." . . . Charles Henneman sends an update: "In June, I was promoted to senior vice president in the new products and ventures group at Enhance Financial Services, where I have worked since 1997. I've had the pleasure of seeing numerous Rochester friends in recent weeks: On July 17, I attended the reconvening of Landon Wickham's '86 legendary 4-to-6 Club in the sheep's meadow in Central Park. Among those who braved the heat were Ed Fischman, Tomi Kilgore, and Dave Kelson '86. Dave was expecting his first child at any minute, while Tomi contemplated taking his son to see Star Wars: Episode 1 for the sixth time. While traveling on business, I was able to catch up with Lisa Palter '88 in San Francisco, where she is an attorney, and I caught up with Laura Ashman '88 in Chicago, where she manages a fantastic gourmet food store and catering business. In both cities, I was pleased to discover you can get a good Manhattan outside of New York." . . . Kathleen Neville writes that she is completing a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at Baylor College of Medicine's Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. . . . Rachel Roberts e-mails: "I just bought a house in Cleveland and am enjoying first-time home ownership. I also have a new e-mail address: rroberts@cspnohio.org. In my position as student services coordinator for the Central School of Practical Nursing, I created our school's Web site, which you can check out at www.cspnohio.org.". . . Irene "Patty" Rupp '91M (MD) married Michael Hodge on June 5 and she writes that Rochester alumni attending the wedding included Robin Arita, Nanon Shanks Olson, Leslie Saunders Petit, Melissa Bilski, Christopher Mayer, and the brother of the bride, Anthony Rupp '89, who was a groomsman. Irene is an infectious disease specialist on the seacoast of New Hampshire. . . . David Vogel and his wife, Adrienne, have a new daughter, Morgan Nicole, born on June 1. David is working at Charlex, a commercial post-production facility in New York City as an editor in the animatics department.

David Calarco married Lauri Paasch on September 26, 1998, at the Interfaith Chapel at the University. David is the distribution manager for Concentrix Corp. in Pittsford, N.Y. . . . Jeannine Donato Gibson '89 and her husband, John, announce the birth of their first child, Shayla Anne, born March 23 and weighing in at 6 lbs., 14 oz. Jeannine writes that she is a stay-at-home mom "and loving it," but adds that she also works from home as a part-time marketing consultant. . . . Peter Lymm has accepted a corporate vice president position as head of national claim operations/production with Aetna U.S. Healthcare. . . . Jonathan Payne (see Alumni Gazette, Start Me Up). . . . Brian Sweeney e-mails: "Decided to work for a different general--I left the U.S. Marine Corps in July and now work for General Electric near Hartford, Conn., as an information technology leader in their marketing systems (e-commerce) division. We (my wife, Lynn, and our three daughters) are psyched to be back to New England after so long. Please drop me a note at brian.sweeney@indsys. ge.com if you are in the area!". . . Jacqueline Robles Werner writes: "I've been working as an attorney in the air enforcement division of the EPA for two years now. My daughter, Gabriella Michelle, turns 1 on July 13. She is the light of her mother's and father's lives. After having spent the last two years working in D.C. and living in Virginia, we can definitely say that New York City was fun, but Virginia is our home. Nonetheless, we still travel to New York every other month or so to visit all of our friends and eat some real Chinese food and pizza!" She also reports that she attended the wedding of Aurora Bayoneto, who married Emmanuel Huggins on June 19. Others present were Marylou Tanael Popick, Jessela Tan, and Pallavi Shah. "All are healthy and happy!" Jacqueline reports. . . Kathleen Giniecki Young '89 (MS) reports that she and her husband, Randy, have a new baby girl, Natalie Kirsten, born on April 22. Natalie weighed in at 7 lbs., 8 oz., and was 18 3/4 inches long. "We are hoping that she will be in the Class of 2021!" Kathleen writes.

Michael Chang '96 (PhD) e-mails: "After leaving Rochester, I was with Hewlett-Packard in San Diego for four years. I joined Peerless Systems in Los Angeles in 1998 to continue digital imaging work. Tracy Denk '91, who is in Orange County, helped me with my move to Los Angeles." . . . Wendy Meyers Cullen reports that she got married last April and is now living in Orlando, Fla., working as the human resources director at Hearing Aid Corp. . . . Frank Meleca '97S (MBA) married Maura Keenehan on September 26. He is a demand/supply analyst for Xerox in Rochester. . . . Amy Sinensky reports that she is living in Boston and working as an associate research manager for Boston Beer Company- Sam Adams. "I am engaged to Andy Rosenfeld and am planning an August 2000 wedding in Buffalo.". . . Cheryl McGeehan Taylor (see '86). . . . Matthew Vreeland '90 (MS) sends an update: He has completed a one-year tour as a flight surgeon in Korea and has returned to Fort Lewis, Wash., where he is completing residency training in emergency medicine.
