STUDENT DUO PLANS ROUND-THE-WORLD FLIGHTDan Dominguez '90 and pal Chris Wall, a Rice University student, have set their sights on a round-the-world flight next August, thereby setting a world record as the youngest pilots to accomplish that feat. And, if plans work out, they'll have an even younger "crew" on their three-month, 26,500-mile journey. Using new satellite technology donated by EchoFlight, an aviation-product development company, the two plan to interact live with classrooms all over the world, sharing real-time video and pictures while flying. "We want to share the dream and the spirit of flying and encourage environmental awareness," Dominguez says. The duo are already well along on their own dream. So far they have acquired the plane, incorporated a foundation for fundraising, lined up initial sponsors, and created a Web site (www.globaladvancement.org). During the months between now and next summer's takeoff, the two will continue raising funds and completing preparations while keeping up with their studies--Dominguez in economics and Wall in engineering. After that, the sky's the limit.
