She is T. Harry Williams Professor Emerita at Louisiana State University.

Robert McCaughey, a professor of history at Columbia
University’s Barnard College, is the author of Stand, Columbia: A
History of Columbia University in the City of New York, 1754–2004.

Joan Jacobs Brumberg, a history professor at Cornell
University, wrote Kansas Charley: The Story of a 19th Century Boy Murderer,
which was published in September. . . . Juanita Gidada writes to report that
her husband, Solomon Gidada ’67 W (Mas),
a former Ethiopian ambassador to Great Britain, died on June 17, 2003, in Los
Angeles. . . . Karen Besenfelder Howland writes,
“My work at QuickSAN in Rochester is varied and includes research, writing,
and editing; I like being the Mac expert in the group. My e-mail is wise.guy

Bruce Crockett has been named chairman of Captaris Inc., a business data management
company headquartered in Bellevue, Wash. He has been on the Captaris board of
directors since September 2001. Bruce is also a member of the University’s
Board of Trustees. . . . Marc Holzer, a professor of public administration at
Rutgers University, has been elected a fellow of the National Academy of Public
Administration. The nonprofit organization chartered by Congress provides government
leaders with advice and analysis on issues of governance and management. . .
. John Hubbard’s and Anita Huray’s computer science textbook, Data
Structures with Java, was published in November. John is a professor of mathematics
and computer science at the University of Richmond. . . . Gaylord (Chip) Thayer
has been appointed to the board of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.
