George Gray (PhD) is executive director of the Harvard Center for Risk Analysis and a lecturer in risk analysis at the Harvard School of Public Health. In January, he presented a talk on “mad cow disease” to the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

John Barry’s (MA) book, The Great Influenza: The Epic Story of the Deadliest Plague in History, was on The New York Times bestseller list in March. . . . Carole Jolley Nary W (Mas) (see ’64 undergraduate). . . . Len Schutzman S (MBA) is chair of the advisory board for Nth Orbit.

Jim Chiafery S (MBA) joined LaVoie Strategic Communications Group as senior vice president. . . . Thomas McCullough S (MBA) writes, “I was elected president of the national capital region chapter of the Data Management Association in Washington, D.C., for 2003–2005 and was keynote presenter at the November 2003 Data Management Forum in Crystal City, Va. The title of my speech was ‘A Data Warehousing Success Story at the U.S. Army National Guard.’”

Bob Ballard S (MBA) was promoted to senior vice president of guarantor services at Sallie Mae. . . . Robert Wiltenburg (PhD), dean of Washington University’s College of Arts & Sciences, was chair of the committee in charge of the university’s sesquicentennial celebration in 2003.

Ellen Sternberg Bevan (PhD) has been appointed director of advancement for Fairport (N.Y.) Baptist Homes Caring Ministries. Previously, Ellen was director of annual giving, then director of special gifts, for SUNY Geneseo. She also was director of development for Wilson Commencement Park.

Microbiologist Christopher Sommers (PhD) was named North Atlantic Area Early Career Scientist of 2003 for the Agricultural Research Service.

Eben Howard S (MBA) has been named regional director of heart services for Banner Health in Colorado. Eben also is director of the Western States Burn Center at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley, Colo.

Mary DiMartino S (MBA) and Brad McAdams were married on October 18, 2003, at the Granger Homestead in Canandaigua, N.Y. Mary is an analyst at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals in Collegeville, Pa., and Brad is a financial analyst at Lockheed-Martin in King of Prussia, Pa. They live in Gilbertsville, Pa.

2001
Robert Dedrick W (MS) and Mandy Morrell were married on August 2, 2003, in Geneva, N.Y. Both work at Canandaigua Academy: Robert is a science teacher, and Mandy is a school psychologist.

2002
Paul Ames joined Yanni Partners, an investment consulting firm in Pittsburgh, as director of the institutional data division. As director, he is responsible for the company’s proprietary databases of investment manager performance, statistics, and distinguishing product characteristics. Previously, Paul was a consultant with Biophan Technologies in Rochester.
