Gift Establishes New Professorship

NEW PROFESSORSHIP: A new Simon School professorship is named in recognition of Diane and Michael Jones. Michael Jones '76 says his company has benefitted from the Simon alumni who have worked there.

A $1.5 million gift pledge from Michael ’76 and Diane Jones will establish an endowed professorship named in their honor in the Simon Graduate School of Business. The Michael and Diane Jones Professorship will be awarded for a renewable term of five years to a faculty member whose teaching and scholarship successfully exemplify the business school’s mission.

A University trustee since 2002, Michael Jones is president and C.E.O. of Pittsford, New York, based Clover Capital Management Inc. The investment advisory firm, which he cofounded in 1984, manages about $2 billion in client assets.

“An institution begins and ends with great faculty who have made their mark on academia, and we are committed to supporting the recruitment of top-notch faculty,” says Jones.

“This generous gift will help us to continue to attract and retain valuable members of our faculty,” says Simon School Dean Mark Zupan. “The growing international reputation of our faculty will be a testament to Mike and Diane’s foresight and generosity.”
