Tiny Bubbles: Vasilii Petrenko holds a 50,000-year-old sample of ice from Taylor glacier in Antarctica as he gets ready to analyze it in his lab in Hutchison Hall. As he melts the ice in a special device, the assistant professor of earth and environmental sciences captures the air escaping from the ice’s bubbles. Petrenko studies the gases trapped inside the samples to analyze the ancient climate of Earth. See a video:
