Overview

We can't wait to welcome you to campus! To make arrival and move-in as smooth as possible, you will be need to arrive on one of two arrival days.

You are required to arrive on campus or move into on-campus housing on the day you selected when you signed up for a move-in time slot, unless you are a participant in an approved URochester early arrival program.

Fall 2026

This year's Fall Arrival Days are Monday, August 24 and Tuesday, August 25, 2026. This page will be updated with detailed arrival and move-in instructions in early July 2026

Fall arrival day components

Your arrival day will consist of three required steps. You'll pick up your campus ID card, your room key, welcome items, and your textbooks and course materials. If your family members are with you, they can also attend Welcome Week check-in to pick up their own welcome item.

Residential Life check-in

Required if you are living on campus

Pick up your room key and move your belongings into your new home away from home. During official move-in hours, volunteers will be on-hand to help transport your items to your room.

Welcome Week check-in

Required for all students

Pick up your campus ID card, welcome items, and mailbox information. Family members and supporters are also invited to stop by check-in to pick up their own welcome item.

Course material pick-up

Required for all students

If you confirmed your course materials after registering for classes through your UR Essentials portal, your textbooks will be available to pick up from the University Bookstore in College Town.

Approved early arrivals

If you are a participant in any of the following programs that allow you to arrive early to campus, please defer to your coach or program director for your specific arrival date and time, as well as instructions for picking up your room key and moving your belongings to your room. You will still need to complete the other two components of Arrival Day during the official Welcome Week program.
