After you officially enroll, you'll begin receiving email communications from our office, as well as a few other areas around the University.

Your Rochester email account

First things first! In order to receive email communications from the orientation team, your academic advisor, and other University community members, you'll need to access your University of Rochester email account. Expand the box below to learn how to access your email account.

Access your University of Rochester email account

As a student, you will be provided with a Gmail account to use during your time at Rochester (and beyond!). The format of your student email address is: netID@u.rochester.edu

Your email account is set up for you automatically all you need to do is navigate to the login page and enter your NetID and password to access your account. Your account includes 10GB of storage (including emails), enhanced mail search, Instant Messenger chat integration, access to Google Drive, and full calendar use.

Incoming Fall 2026 students and their families will begin receiving emails from the Office of Orientation and New Student Programs in May.

Rochester Ready newsletter

Rochester Ready highlights important information and announcements for all new Rochester students. All incoming students are automatically subscribed, as well as any parents, family members, or friends they add to their UR Student account when completing their onboarding tasks.
