William Adler
'44
At Rochester:
- Played football and competed in track and field at the University
- Earned All-America honors in football from the All-America Board during his undergraduate days
- Straight A engineering student who was elected to numerous honor societies: Pi Mu Epsilon, Tau Beta Pi, Pi Tau Sigma
- Left Rochester to fight in World War II, but was allowed to graduate with the Class of 1945
- Earned his BSME from Rochester
Post-Graduate:
- Earned his BS from Northwestern and was named an All-Big 10 Academic All-American while there
- Drafted by Buffalo for professional football, but injuries cut his career short
- Worked for 45 years worldwide sales promotional manager of International Harvester
- Part owner of Chicago Cubs baseball team until club was purchased by the Chicago Tribune
- Member of the College Football Hall of Fame
- Earned a Distinguished American Award for heading up the Chicago Red Cross, Chicago Community Fund, and Illinois State Chamber of Commerce
- Served as a Catholic Lay Minister
- Passed away in January, 1995
