Intramural Sports

Intramural sports are organized programs that allow the students, faculty, and staff of the University to participate in team, dual, and individual sport activities. Intramurals provide the opportunity for physical activity and fellowship while promoting wellness and the use of leisure time. For more information about intramural sports, see our frequently asked questions page or email IM@sports.rochester.edu.

Everyone who participates in intramural sports is required to follow our sportsmanship code.

Before competing, please read and review the intramural policies and procedures.

Team types:

  • Open (O): Can have any combination of men/women playing
  • CoRec (C): Must have minimum of two women on field/court during game
  • Women league (W): Women’s only league
  • A league (A): Highly competitive league

Eligible to Participate

To participate, you must have a valid University of Rochester ID card, be a full-time undergraduate or graduate students or an R Club (over the age of 22). Varsity athletes cannot participate in their particular sport.

You must be part of a team in order to participate. Each team must have at least five members and all members should meet the eligibility requirements listed. 

How to Sign Up for an Intramural Team

To sign up for an intramural team, you should:

  1. Click on the sport you are interested in, at the top will be day of play which will be your league. This info is needed in the document in step 2.
  2. Fill out this Document
  3. Email it back to the the IM office at IM@sports.rochester.edu
  4. Be sure to put person of contact on this form.  Any forms that are not completed, will not be considered for league play.
  5. Confirmation emails will be sent from the IM office.

Captains’ Meeting

All captains' meetings will be done via Zoom. Zoom confirmations will be sent out to the point of contact listed on Roster sheet.

Learn To Events

Learn to Golf with Dan Wesley (Starts September 22nd in Fauver Stadium) – This five class 'Learn To' will show you the proper way to swing a golf club and learn how to use the different clubs and increase the enjoyment of the game of golf. This class is taught by UR head golf coach, Dan Wesley.

Learn to Row (Starts September 15th at Rowing Training Facility at Brooks Crossing) – Learn the basics of the rowing stroke progressing from the rowing machines to eventual on the water time in a racing shell. You will be introduced to the mechanics, physiology and training aspects of the sport. At the end of the program, you will have the opportunity to try out for the Varsity Women’s or Men’s Club programs for the spring season. No experience is necessary to begin. This class is taught by Morgan Grastorf, Assistant Rowing Coach.
