Josefa Benzoni
'88
At Rochester:
- Won NCAA Division III National Championships three times-in the
indoor 1,500 meters twice (junior and senior year) and in the 3,000
meters indoors (senior year)
- Earned nine individual All-America honors-two in cross country
(1988, 1989); seven for track and field
- Set an NCAA Division III record in the 1,500 when she won the
title in 1987-88
- Led team to a second place finish nationally in 1989, the best
in school history
- Won the University's Merle Spurrier Award in 1987-88
- Named Rochester Press-Radio Club's College Sportswoman of the
Year in 1989
Post-Graduate:
- Completed on year of her MAT, then went to Togo, West Africa
with the Peace Corps.
- Stayed there from September, 1989 to December, 1991 and spent
three months travelling in Zimbabwe, South Africa and Lesotho
- Returned to the United States and completed her MAT at
Rochester in Spring, 1992
- Assisted with the men's and women's track teams at Colgate for
two years
