Lyle Brown

  • One of Rochester's most successful men's basketball coaches
  • Over a 19-year period, his teams won 222 games and played in the NCAA College Division Tournament four times
  • He was a full professor in the Department of Sports and Recreation who coached freshman baseball for five years and varsity soccer for 10 years
  • Guided and unbeaten soccer team in 1957
  • Member of the National Association of Basketball Coaches for 38 years, chaired the Membership Committee, the Hall of Fame Committee, the Press Committee, and the Convention Committee
  • NCAA Coach of the Year in 1964-65 and 1969-70
  • Faculty activities included appointment as Chairman of the Commencement Exercises and a member of the Faculty Senate
  • His soccer teams had a 50-27-3 won-lost-tied record
  • Coached six All-America players in soccer and four in basketball
  • 1945 graduate of Ithaca College
  • Passed away in September, 2006
