William H. Ceckler
'51
At Rochester:
- Played with the freshman football team, starting at weak-side
guard on offense and nose guard and middle linebacker on
defense
- Earned a numerical sweater for his efforts with the freshman
team
- Joined the varsity team for the 1948-50 seasons, lettering in
his junior and senior years
- Chose as the team's Player of the Week for his play vs. Oberlin
and named to St. Lawrence's All-Opponent team
Post-Graduate:
- Pursued a graduate degree in Chemical Engineering at
M.I.T.
- While at M.I.T., he was an instructor, assistant professor, and
a Director in the School of Chemical Engineering Practice
- Received an ScD. in Chemical Engineering in 1961
- Spent 13 years in engineering and process development in the
steel industry before joining the Chemical Engineering faculty at
the University of Maine
- Retired as a Professor from U.M. in 1997
