  • Co-captain of undefeated track and field team in 1951
  • Excelled in high jump, long jump, javelin throw
  • Lightest player on football team in junior season (148 lbs. - halfback), finished second in East in total offense with 900 yards (697 passing, 203 rushing) behind Joe Paterno of Brown
  • Elected to Chi Rho and Mendicants
  • Member of Sigma Chi
  • Served in U.S. Navy on PT boat in the South Pacific during World War II (after freshman year)
  • Graduated with a B.A. in Geology in 1951

  • M.S. in Geology from Rochester, 1953
  • Ph.D. in Geology from Washington State University, 1956
  • Exploration geochemist/geologist for Kennecott Copper Corp., 1956-59
  • Developed statistical program instrumental in the discovery of major silver-lead-zinc ore deposit valued at more than $500 million
  • Geology Professor, University of Maine, 1959-90
  • Listed in Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in Frontier Science and Technology, and American Men of Science for pioneering research efforts and development of computer applications
  • Author/co-author of more than 20 professional articles
  • Has won several local and New England regional awards for black and white photography, color photography, and slides.
