  • A well-balanced undergraduate career that included three varsity letters for tennis and four with basketball
  • Elected president of the sophomore class and later president of the student body
  • Belonged to numerous honor societies, including Keidaeans, Mendicants, Chi Rho, Psi Upsilon, and Phi Beta Kappa
  • Earned a baccalaureate degree in Chemistry in 1940

Post-Graduate:

  • Worked in the chemical industry for six years following graduation
  • Spent seven years as a food broker with L.D. Butler Company and joined Basic American Foods in 1953 where he remained for more than 30 years
  • Served as vice president of the parent company and president of several divisions
  • Graduated from Harvard Business School's Advanced Management Program in 1964
  • Extremely active in civic affairs, serving as a board member and officer of the YMCA, the Chamber of Commerce, and the United Way
