George Schmergel

At Rochester:
- Three-year letterman and dominating soccer player for the Rivermen/Yellowjackets
- Scoring leader with record 16 goals in one season
- Had a game-high four goals against St. Lawrence
- Scored 3 goals in four games versus Clarkson, Union, Hobart, and Alfred
- Named to the 1964 All NYS Soccer Team as a junior
- Two-time Athlete of the Week
- He was a senior captain in the center forward position
- Graduated with a BA in political science
Post-Graduate:
- Went to Boston University Law School
- Employed by a multitude of law firms including Nixon Hargrave, Underberg Kessler, Gullace & Weld, and Harris
- Worked for Chesworth, O'Brien, Johnstone, Welch & Leone in real estate as well as bankruptcy and immigration law
- Received City of Rochester & RPD award for co-founding PAC-TAC (Police and Citizens Together Against Crime)
- Member of prestigious Law Review
- Devoted time as a youth soccer coach
- Passed away July, 2011.
