At Rochester:
- Three letters a piece for football and track and field
- Established the indoor 200 record and the outdoor mile relay record
- Held a Prize Scholarship
- President of the junior class and the Student Association
- Numerous honor societies including Chi Rho and Theta Pi Sigma as a sophomore, Mendicants as a junior, and Keidaeans as a senior
- Graduated with Highest Distinction in History in 1942
Post-Graduate:
- MBA With Distinction from the Harvard Business School in 1946
- Joined the firm of Stein, Roe & Farnham, an investment counseling firm in Chicago, in 1946
- Made a partner in 1954 and ultimately vice chairman
- Retired in 1991
- Served as a University Trustee from 1965-1981, now a Life Trustee
- Has been the Chairman of the Chicago Alumni Club since the 1960s
