From fitness classes to highly competitive sports teams, the University has great ways to stay physically active. The Robert B. Goergen Athletics Center features at 11,000-square-foot fitness center, an indoor 200-meter track, a 25-meter pool, four basketball/volleyball courts, four indoor tennis courts, five international squash courts, and two racquetball courts.

The Brian F. Prince Athletic Complex includes Fauver Stadium, with seating for 5,000 spectators and an 400-meter running track; Lyman Outdoor Tennis Center with six lighted tennis courts, Towers Field, and North Field.

Nearby Genesee Valley Park features two 18-hole golf course, more recreational playing fields, an indoor ice rink, a 50-meter outdoor pool, and paved jogging trails along the Genesee River and Erie Canal.

The Rochester Yellowjackets play in the University Athletic Association and the Liberty League. In the decade of the 2000s, the women’s basketball team has played in eight NCAA Division III tournaments and reached the Final Four three times. The men’s basketball team has seven NCAA appearances, two Final Fours, and competed in the 2005 championship game. The soccer teams have combined for 12 NCAA playoff appearances, six apiece by the men and the women.

Rochester individuals have finished highly in NCAA competition: Stephen Goodridge won the 2006 golf championship, Brian Lang was third in the NCAA men’s steeplechase in 2010, and Yaneve Fonge was the national runnerup in the women’s weight throw in 2011.
