‘Explore all opportunities and take chances’

On behalf of the Eastman Students’ Association (SA), we would like to welcome all returning and new students to Eastman! Eastman has long been a lively community where musicians come together to create and collaborate over a shared passion. You will constantly find yourself inspired by the musical growth and encouragement of your peers and will thrive under the guidance of world-class faculty.

A special welcome to Eastman’s Class of 2020! We are delighted to welcome you to your home for the next four years. Your experience at Eastman will be unique—take advantage of the many opportunities to get to know your school and the surrounding Rochester area! The Eastman orientation crew looks forward to welcoming you during Orientation week, during which you will learn all you need to commence your time at Eastman and begin to make friendships that will strengthen throughout the next four years.

All new and returning students can look forward to Eastman’s Welcome Weekend, which is sponsored by EPIC (Eastman Programming and Involvement Council), and will take place from September 2 to 5. Relax after the first week of classes with a weekend of activities and off-campus trips to Letchworth State Park and Eastview Mall. Get acquainted with student-run groups and organizations during the
Student Activities Expo on September 2.

We would especially like to encourage all students to become immersed in the many student organizations and clubs that Eastman and the River Campus have to offer. For any students in Rochester during the end of Orientation, look out for the Celebrate Diversity concert in Kodak Hall, which is a small sample of the many student-run groups offered on both campuses. Eastman currently has 13 student organizations that are funded and/or formally recognized by the Students’ Association—please find a listing and contact information for these organizations on the Office of Student Life’s website or attend the Student Activities Expo.

Our goal for the Students’ Association is to advocate for our students, and we encourage all to attend SA meetings and to be involved in strengthening our community. Take advantage of all that Eastman and the River Campus have to offer—explore all opportunities and take chances and your Eastman experience will be exciting and fulfilling.

We hope you have a wonderful year and look forward to making music with you!
