Official Logos and Marks
Spirit logos and favicon
There are two “spirit logos” in the University’s graphic identity system: The Spirit R logo and the Rocky. These are designed to be used on the following items:
- Athletic materials: Uniforms, venues, printed materials, and sportswear
- Alumni merchandise
- Fan/spirit-oriented paraphernalia
- Mascot costume
- Favicon (Spirit R specifically)

University seal
The official seal of the University of Rochester (the corporation) is an emblem of authenticity, and has limited use cases. It is reserved for specific official circumstantial events and materials, often by the President and the Board of Trustees.

School and unit marks
Unit marks were developed to provide the highest designated academic units of the University a coordinated and consistent look, while still prominently featuring their recognized name.
Just like the University logo, each of the standard unit marks has three lock ups of the shield and their name. In each configuration the relative position and proportions of the elements should not be changed in any way.
The rules for usage of the unit marks are the same as those for the University logo. By downloading these files, you are agreeing to follow the standards and guidelines outlined on this website.
