Office of the Provost

Institutional Research

Institutional Research, Office of the Provost, supports the University's planning and decision-making efforts so that the University can fulfill its larger mission. We respond to requests from constituencies of the University with respect to assessment, policy analysis, decision making, and planning. We provide information to outside agencies, the Federal and State governments, and peer institutional consortia. We annually make available a University Fact Book, and many reports and analyses showing trends at Rochester and comparisons with peers.

The goals of the office are to ensure that reports and analyses are accurate, timely, and useful. To this end, Institutional Research works with data custodians to make certain that benchmark files dealing with student, course, personnel and finance data are as accurate and consistent as possible.

The office also supports the University's membership in several higher education consortia that allow us to share data with, and collect information from, a variety of sources.
