Participation
The fitness center is open for use during Goergen Athletic Center hours of operation. All University of Rochester full-time undergraduate/graduate students, R Club members and guest (must be 16 year old or older) are welcome to pursue their personal fitness goals in the fitness center.
Guidelines for the fitness center:
- Please clean all of the equipment you use during your visit
- Please keep your cardio workout to 30 minutes or less when other guests are waiting
- All Cybex, cardiovascular and free weight equipment are on a first come first served basis. Please allow others to use equipment while you rest between sets.
- For your workout enjoyment cardio-theater is available on all cardio equipment. We also encourage our guests to bring their own personal music to use during their workout (headphones and iPod/MP3 player etc). The fitness center is a quiet facility.
- Proper workout attire (gym shirt, gym shorts, sweatpants, sneakers) must be worn at all times. Shirts must be left on. For your safety work boots or sandals not permitted.
- Water in unbreakable water bottles is encouraged in the fitness center. Other food/drink is not permitted in the fitness center.
- Leave book bags, jackets, or boots secured in the day use or personal lockers.
- Clear pathways are to be maintained at all times. No personal belongings (including water bottles) are to be left on the workout floor.
- Leave personal and valuable items in a secure location at all times. The Fitness Center and the Department of Athletics & Recreation are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Staff members will not hold IDs, wallets, keys, etc.
- Unauthorized personal training or rehabilitation services are not permitted.
- Violation of any policy or any actions deemed inappropriate may result in the acting participant's membership being suspended or revoked. Any member displaying inappropriate actions (abusing equipment, verbal abuse of personnel or other members) will have violated established policies and procedures.
