Overview
The David T. Kearns Center’s pre-college programs focus on supporting high school students in achieving their academic goals. The pre-college programs consist of three programs, all of which are federally funded through the Department of Education (DOE):
- TRIO Upward Bound (Classic) (UBC): Supports first-generation and income-eligible students at East High School and Monroe High School (Rochester City School District) as they navigate the college application and entry process.
- TRIO Upward Bound Math and Science (UBMS): Aims to help first-generation and income-eligible students at East High School, Padilla High School and Wilson High School (Rochester City School District) identify and develop their potential in math and science, encouraging them to pursue postsecondary degrees in these fields.
- TRIO Educational Talent Search (ETS): Offers academic, career, and financial counseling to first-generation and income-eligible students at East High School and Padilla High School, motivating them to graduate from high school and continue to trade school, college, or a certificate program.
All three programs provide guidance to students throughout their high school journey while offering distinct areas of support, each with specific eligibility criteria and application deadlines.
