Host a Service Project
The Rochester Center for Community Leadership supports service as a mutually beneficial act. We encourage students to learn from the community--its assets and its needs--as they donate time and skills to support community-based initiatives. While service can be useful in developing personal leadership and problem-solving skills, we recognize that service is most effective when done with others, not to or for them.
The University of Rochester encourages students to engage with their communities by supporting different days of service throughout the year, including:
- Wilson Day
- 9/11 Day of Service
- Be the Change Day
- MLK Jr. Day of Service/King for a Day
- Mayor’s Day (in collaboration with the Corporation for National and Community Service)
- Rochester Cleansweeps
Outside of these days of service, RCCL supports students in their own efforts to engage in service by advising service-related student groups and the Community Service Network.
