- Students can now earn a citation in community-engaged scholarship, which provides experiential learning opportunities in which they can identify and respond to community-identified needs.
- Students were able to continue to engage in diverse experiential learning opportunities thanks to giving that supported internship funds, undergraduate research, and student life activities—95 percent participate in internships, 77 percent are involved in undergraduate research, and 90 percent engage in one or more of the available 275 student organizations.
- The newly renovated Frederick Douglass Commons opened. Visitors are enjoying a reinvented space that includes a variety of dining options, including a kosher kitchen, allergen-free zones, and a community kitchen; a large event space for cultural expos, departmental fairs, concerts, and speaking events; a fireplace lounge and meditation and lactation rooms; and the new Paul J. Burgett Intercultural Center and Language Center.
- Designed to integrate academics, athletics, and student life into the residential experience, Genesee Hall is under construction and slated to open for the 2017–18 academic year.
