Strong Memorial Hospital
- Annual funds helped renovate operating rooms and create more private in-patient rooms. This helped Strong gain attention as a national leader in patient safety, patient engagement, and clinical connectedness to improve patient care.
- Philanthropy enabled URMC to acquire a Mobile Stroke Unit (MSU)— now serving all of Monroe County, and the only unit of its kind in upstate New York—which brings the capabilities of an emergency room with stroke expertise directly to the patient. Since it began operation in October 2018, the MSU has responded to 867 calls for service for individuals experiencing stroke-like symptoms.
- Support helped our advanced heart failure program to become one of the nation’s leading centers for research and development of ventricular assist devices (VADs). Since the program’s inception in 2001, Strong has performed more than 260 heart transplants and 700+ VAD implants.
