1. How-to video: Table of Contents component
2. Table of Contents options
After selecting the Table of Contents component on any page that uses the Rochester Core plugin, you’ll be presented with the following options to customize the display and enter content.
The title field is where to add the Table of Contents component’s title or headline. The title here can be styled, but the text will be bolded by default. Keep in the heading hierarchy of the page to determine if heading 2 or heading 3 would be needed.
The description block is where supporting text can be added to the Table of Contents component. Usually, this would include a sentence or two describing the page’s content.
The Table of Contents has four different background colors: white, gray, charcoal, and navy.
There are three different layout options for the Table of Contents.
- Cover photo: The cover photo option displays an image to the side of the content. Keep in mind, that the photo will take the space of the description field with this option.
- Full width: Have the table of contents fill the whole width of the page with the full-width option. The title and description will fill one half and the table of contents will fill the other half.
- Standard width: To save space, this option fills the standard width of the page. The title, description, and table of contents will stack on top of one another.
If the “cover photo” option is selected the “cover image” field will appear. Select an image from the media library to add an image to the left of the Table of Contents.
The Table of Contents is built automatically by utilizing specific heading tags. The types of headings that are selected in this section will be added to the table of contents, omitting the ones that are not selected. This avoids taking time to build and link every item in the table.
Select which headings tags should be indexed in the Table of Contents.
To ignore certain titles, headings, or topics use this field to filter out specific words or phrases. The included words or phrases will not be added to the Table of Contents, even if they match the selected heading type.
To add multiple items, separate each word or phrase with a vertical bar “|”. For example “sofa|soft chair” will ignore all headings that contain “sofa”, but also the headings that contain “soft chair”. These matches are case-insensitive.
