University of Rochester Transportation and Parking is currently facing unprecedented staffing shortages and is making temporary operational adjustments to address these challenges. The lack of staff is not a problem unique to the University, as many hospitals and medical centers across the country are experiencing similar circumstances.
On Monday, September 27, Lot 1 will return to two-deep (2-D) parking. Permit holders should park in Lot 1 until filled, then overflow to Lot 1 South. Once Lot 1 South fills, overflow parking is in Lot 9, followed by Lot 2. Use the UR mobile app to check real-time parking availability and overflow locations. Download the app here: https://tech.rochester.edu/services/ur-mobile/
Middle spaces in Lot 1 will be blocked with traffic cones. We appreciate your cooperation with this configuration as it will help permit holders to enter and exit the lot without delay.
Parking attendants will not be on site in Lot 1 to direct employees during this change. There is no definitive timeline for returning to regular staffing levels, but recruitment is ongoing. Our top priorities are ensuring permit holders have access to parking and continuing to meet their parking needs safely.
Please call (585) 275-4524 if you have any questions. We thank you for your continued flexibility and cooperation as we adjust to this challenging time.
