Who Can Carpool
Students and staff who are eligible for an individual parking permit may register as a member of a carpool. Students must submit a new carpool registration form each year to the Transportation and Parking Department.
Share a Ride
An affordable way to get around.
Reduce fuel expenses, vehicle wear and tear, and your carbon footprint by teaming up for your commute. Since fuel costs can be shared and emissions per person are cut, carpooling is a great way to lower expenses and reduce your personal environmental impact. When three people carpool, two cars are eliminated from the road and congested parking lots. That may not seem like much, but it is impactful when hundreds of people do the same.
The University offers discounted permits to employees who commute with two or more individuals in one vehicle. To take advantage of carpool savings, all participating members must have a registered vehicle and work similar hours. In addition to using less gas, you’ll also benefit from substantially reduced parking rates. The amount of savings – which ranges from 50% off annual parking rates to FREE parking – it depends on the number of people carpooling.
Save Money With Lower Permit Rates!
2 person carpool – pay 50% of regular parking permit
3 person carpool – pay 25% of regular parking permit
4 person carpool – no charge for permit!
Carpooling is a great way to get to and from campus and is an important alternative to single-occupancy vehicles. It helps minimize impact on the environment, reduces the demand for parking spaces, and decreases traffic congestion. Read all Carpool Guidelines.

How Do Carpools Work
Each carpool group is assigned one hangtag carpool permit to share. The permit will state the parking lot assignment. The permit allows you to park in the same lot as the carpool lot, or, in the case where riders are split between campuses, you can make arrangements to park in the lot closer to your worksite.
If a Carpool Group Is Disbanded
If the carpool group is disbanded or a carpool participant cannot remain in the carpool group, the Parking Office must be notified. The participant(s) must return their permit(s) and lockbox, and a new permit will be issued for a lot that is currently available.
