Declaring a Major in the Hajim School of Engineering & Applied Sciences

  1. Make an appointment with your assigned departmental faculty advisor and/or undergraduate coordinator.
  2. Complete a curriculum planning form that you will receive from your advisor.
  3. Complete Part B: primary writing requirement.
  4. Complete part C: Rochester curriculum registration, following the guidelines on the back of the form. See the clusters page for more details.
    1. Note: Students who complete one of the professionally accredited engineering concentrations (biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical and computer engineering, and mechanical engineering) need to complete a cluster in only one of the other two divisions.
  5. You will be notified when you are admitted to the major.

Note: Students who complete a second major/degree in the School of Arts & Sciences must complete all of the requirements for that major and degree. For example, a student completing a bachelor of science (BS) degree in mechanical engineering and a bachelor of arts (BA) degree with a major in physics, must complete both clusters in order to fulfill the requirements for the BA degree with a major in physics.
