Lightboard
Lightboard is large colorless piece of glass mounted in a frame similar to a whiteboard. The area surrounding the board is black which makes the writing appear as if it were floating in mid-air. The glass has LED lights ringing the edge which make the fluorescent markers glow brighter. The effect is somewhat similar to Sports TV "telestrators" but doesn't require an iPad or an Apple Pencil.
You simply stand and write, annotate and diagram as you would normally in a face-to-face lecture class. The staff member helps get everything setup/focused (lights, camera, microphone) and then will start/stop the recording as needed, cueing the Instructor when the camera is recording. Staff members also make sure a memory card is in the camera recording each take during the recording session and will also move files off the digital memory card afterwards, typically uploading videos to an appropriate folder on Panopto.com (the UR's video hosting website for lectures).

For use by instructors only
Lightboard use is subject to availability of staff members who support Gavett Hall Room 302. You will need to consult with a staff member to set up a meeting time, receive an orientation to the room, and for each recording session.
The room is available for use during business hours (9a-4p, M-F), and will need to be scheduled 24-48 hours in advance.
To schedule a training or recording session, submit a ticket at UnivITHelp@rochester.edu. Please provide some possible days of the week and times of day that you are available.
